Biography

Chris is an experienced marketer, brand strategist and team leader for clients in higher education, associations and nonprofits. Chris develops and executes discovery processes for clients to evaluate programs and value propositions, and to uncover their most powerful and essential truths and to articulate them in compelling stories for measurable results. His current and former clients include the American College of Physicians, the National Association of REALTORS, and the Congressional Management Foundation, as well as the Boy Scouts of America, the YMCA, Rice University, the Endocrine Society, the American Hotel & Lodging Association and the U.S.Naval Institute. Chris was the Managing Director for the Higher Education Practice for Infinia NY, helping Northern Arizona University redefine its value proposition in its community and guiding New York University in the introduction of its Global Center of Public Health and its first online credential. He served as the Chief Marketing Officer for The Johns Hopkins University, and directed the development of the university’s current marketing and brand positioning, including its new graphic identity and portfolio solutions and newly coherent communications strategies. Concurrently Chris served as the director of institutional communications at Johns Hopkins Development and Alumni Relations, working with internal and external partners to create philanthropic message strategies for financial aid fundraising, and capital campaign positioning and naming and case statement writing.

As the Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing & Communications Officer for the independent $1.5B American Legacy Foundation, his teams created and executed the most effective and highly recognized cause marketing campaign in public health history. The campaigns included $100M of annual media placement, grassroots marketing, strategic alliances and government affairs. The signature truth youth anti-tobacco campaign earned several AMA Effie Awards, a Grand Effie and an Emmy for a Super Bowl PSA. Chris has been an advertising agency principal and group account head for a $150M full-service advertising agency and the lead partner for public relations serving clients in higher education, hospitality, technology and public health.

Chris served in the U.S. Navy as a Naval Aviator and a Navy Public Affairs Officer before joining a $5B global hotel company to direct its national public relations and marketing communications department.
